Amidst the negativity that surrounds us in the modern world, it’s easy to get disheartened and discouraged. As a result, many individuals tend to avoid social media altogether. However, for cat lovers like us, browsing through adorable feline pictures can instantly brighten up our day and fill our hearts with joy. Nora Jean, famously known as Nora Jean the Earless Queen, is one such cute kitty that will undoubtedly steal your heart. I chanced upon her on Instagram and was immediately smitten with her charm. Her owners were kind enough to answer some of my questions about her, and I couldn’t wait to share her story with everyone. But before we delve into Nora Jean’s tale, let’s take a moment to ponder why social media has become a go-to platform for people seeking happiness.
About a year ago, my life took an unexpected turn when I came across some pictures that would end up changing everything. While at work, I found myself frantically messaging a friend to make sure I could adopt a particular cat. Despite the stress and anxiety I was feeling, I knew deep down that this feline belonged in my life. To my great surprise, my wish came true and I was able to bring Nora home with me. Since then, Nora has brought countless blessings into my life, including becoming a celebrity on The Kelly Clarkson Show and having her story and photos shared all around the world.
I feel incredibly grateful to have Nora as my companion, and cherish every moment we spend together. If I had it my way, we would spend another 50 years or more side by side! I owe a special thanks to @ashdc98 for the adorable knitted ears that helped turn Nora into a star, and @dchsgiveshelter for introducing me to my best friend.
As a certified veterinary technician, I first discovered Nora through Dane County Humane Society’s Facebook page when they posted her up for adoption. I knew immediately that she was meant to be mine, despite living in a different city at the time. I left a comment expressing my interest, and thankfully a friend of mine offered to pick her up and meet my wife halfway so Nora could join me at work for a checkup.
When it came to naming her, I wanted to choose something that spoke to her unique personality and appearance. After some brainstorming, I landed on “Nora No Ears,” which evolved over time to become “Nora Jean the Earless Queen,” a name that suits her perfectly.
